  Welcome
I welcome your child to my ESL class.  I am excited at the opportunity to
get to know you, as well as, looking forward to a happy and productive
  year.
I graduated Temple University in 1993 with a degree in Elementary and
Early Childhood Education.  I served in the United States Navy as a
Seaman Apprentice and later as a Commissioned Naval Officer.  I have
traveled to many parts of the world and enjoy learning about different
cultures.  I am licensed to teach elementary school students in
Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  I have been teaching for 16 years (10
years in Galloway Township Public Schools).  I am very excited about this
year.  Many great things will come.  I have great information on ELL
students and how we can serve them better.
We will be focusing on: Vocabulary, Phonics, Listening, Speaking,
  Reading Comprehension and Writing.
I take into account students' areas of strength when planning their lessons
to better meet the needs of all learners.  I am very knowledgeable in the
use of technology and use it in my instruction.  I provide purposeful,
authentic, engaging work that begins to prepare today's learners for the
technological world of today and tomorrow. The kids love it.  My classroom
is very inviting and colorful.  It is a great learning environment.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your child’s
progress.  Please feel free to visit the classroom during Open House,
conferences, or as a parent volunteer. You may contact me by either
calling the elementary office, 748-1250 ext. 2045 during school hours or
anytime on voicemail at 609-2000-ESL (375), by sending in a note with
your child, or by e-mail at diazj@gtps.k12.nj.us
